Dear IFSO Members and Colleagues,
On behalf of the IFSO Middle East and North Africa Chapter (MENAC) and the Pan Arab Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (PASMBS) I am delighted and honored to invite you to attend the 2020 second IFSO MENAC and 4th PASMBS meetings to be held in Beirut March 12-14, 2020.
The chairs of our scientific and organizing committees, Drs. Nimeri and Al Hajj have set up an excellent program that will cover multiple topics in metabolic and bariatric surgery. As a start, the program will focus on physiologic fundamentals in gastrointestinal nutrition that every bariatric surgeon should know. The top experts will review in detail the essential technical steps of the common bariatric procedures. Complications including intra-operative disasters and nightmares will be presented with their solutions. There will be emphasis on the issue of reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus after Sleeve gastrectomy in the MENA region, enhanced recovery and single anastomosis gastric bypass. Regional and international experts will present a comprehensive state of the art update on endoscopic gastric plication. The meeting will take place in the newly restored National Library in the heart of Beirut, a monument that celebrates culture, continued learning and research. It is the perfect place to award the first IFSO MENAC research grant.
Beirut is a city full of energy, vibrant culture and is home to fantastic restaurants, historic architectural and archeological landmarks, and shopping centers that you can enjoy with your families. The city welcomes you in March with the pleasant early Mediterranean Spring weather. You may be able to explore the numerous natural and historic sites all across Lebanon including the snow covered mountain ranges
We are awaiting your arrival to Beirut with open arms. Please send your abstracts and videos early on. We are confident that you are going to enjoy and benefit from the meeting tremendously.
