The IFSO Courses are dedicated to enhancing and promoting the specialty of bariatric nursing care as part of the integrated health care of bariatric patients.

Eligibility requirements

  • Be currently licensed as a professional nurse (RN)
  • Recommended to be with minimum of 6 months of nursing care of morbidly obese and bariatric surgery patients, predominately in the bariatric surgery process (i.e., pre-operative, peri-operative or post-operative/follow up care).

The objective of the course:

  • Understand the unique physiology of the obese patients
  • To understand the eligibility criteria and who is the candidate to bariatric surgery
  • Training on the use of body composite analyzer and appropriate patients’ measurements
  • Have an overview of different bariatric surgery procedures
  • Understand the red flag sign and early detection of complication post bariatric surgery
